Lifeplan Folic Acid 400mcg Tablets HELP PREVENT SPINA BIFIDA.

These Lifeplan tablets contain Folic Acid, a form of the essential vitamin, Folacin. This is a water-soluble vitamin of the B group which is essential to the production of red blood cells and division of body cells.

Folic Acid is incredibly important for pregnant women and all women attempting to conceive and they should take at least 400ug of folic acid per day as a supplement. An adequate intake is vital to the development of the foetus during pregnancy, where a daily allowance, prior to pregnancy and for the first 12 weeks of pregnancy, of 400mcg is recommended.

Lifeplan Folic Acid Tablets each provide 400mcg of folic acid which is the recommended preventative dose as there is considerable scientific evidence and studies confirming the neurological risks to an unborn foetus if the mother is folic acid deficient during the pregnancy. This deficiency can result in a baby born with spina bifida, where the bone that protects the spinal cord is not fully developed.

Folic Acid may be obtained from food sources, such as leafy vegetables and fruit, but your lifestyle could mean that your diet may not be providing an optimum intake.
